HOW TO MAKE MOISTURE MUNCHIES

2 Tablespoons of Agar Agar powder or Agar Agar flakes (You can purchase Agar Agar at most health food stores)

2 1/2 Cups of water

Mix together and bring to a boil and boil approx 2 minutes, Pour liquid into a shallow cake pan and let set in refridgerator for 10-15 minutes. After it's set you can draw a knife through the gel and cut it into small pieces or Lg blocks. Transfer the pieces into a plastic container, cover and store in the refridgerator. For serving to your bugs put a pile of moisture munchies on a plastic margarine container lid.

This gel will not disintegrate into a mound of water even when kept at high temperatures within cricket cages.

Feed the moisture munchies to anything that requires water such as crickets, superbeetles, mealybeetles, superworms, roaches, ect. They all seem to love the stuff. You can eat the munchies yourself too. :)

WHAT IS AGAR AGAR ?????????

Agar Agar is a gelatinous colloid extracted from a red alga/seaweed and used esp as a gelling and stabilizing agent in liquids and foods. It is also full of minerals and has a great Calcium/Phos ratio as well. Check the USDA link at the bottom of the page for the nutrient contents.

OTHER USES:

You can experiment with it in many ways, such as using diluted fruit juices, instead of just water to make it more palatable for your lizards. Apple juice and water, is a pretty big hit with Bearded Dragon's. Sometimes if Hydration is needed, it's easier to stick a Moisture munchie into a mouth then a syringe.

You can add chopped veggies to the Agar mixture after it has boiled, which will make a nice crunchie munchie. Put your imagination to work with this great gelling agent.

Here's a hint: Credit Tracey after her experience with an overflow.

If you boil this in a microwave it's quicker. Whatever you do, don't let it boil over, you will have gelatinous coating stuck all over your microwave.

Best of luck making your moisture munchies, Any questions ?? e-mail me I'll try to help.
